Indulge in Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread: The Ultimate Comfort Food
Ingredients You’ll Need
- For the Cheesy Bread:
- 1 loaf of Italian or French bread
- 1 pound of thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin works great)
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
How to Make Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread
Step 1: Sauté the Vegetables and Beef
- Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Cook the Vegetables: Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they’re soft and slightly caramelized.
- Add the Beef: Push the veggies to the side of the skillet and add the thinly sliced beef. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Stir everything together to combine.
Step 2: Prepare the Bread
- Slice the Bread: Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. If you prefer, you can also hollow out some of the inside of the bread to make more room for the filling.
- Fill the Bread: Generously spoon the beef and vegetable mixture onto the bread halves. Top with provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz, making sure to cover the filling completely.
Step 3: Bake to Perfection
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake: Place the cheesy bread halves on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is crispy.
I often find that it tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld together! Enjoy your delicious creation and the smiles it brings!
