Pineapple Beef Stir-Fry: A Sweet and Savory Delight
Ingredients You’ll Need
For the Beef:
- 1 pound flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)
For the Stir-Fry:
- 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks (or canned, drained)
- 1 bell pepper, sliced (red or green)
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (optional)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Beef
In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for about 10-15 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.
Step 2: Prepare the Vegetables
Chop and slice the pineapple, bell pepper, onion, and broccoli. Mince the garlic and ginger, and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Beef
In a large wok or skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
Step 4: Stir-Fry the Vegetables
In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the onion, bell pepper, and broccoli. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp. Add the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
Step 5: Combine and Sauce
Return the beef to the pan and add the pineapple chunks. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey (if using). Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.
Step 6: Serve
Serve the Pineapple Beef Stir-Fry hot over rice or noodles, and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
