Slow Cooker Sauce

  • 4 tbsp butter cubed
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp thyme dried or fresh sprigs

Instructions
 

  • Create the Spice Blend: In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 tsp salt, 0.5 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, and 1 tsp Italian seasoning. Whisk well.
  • Season the Poultry: Pat the 2 lbs of chicken breasts dry. Coat them liberally on all sides with the spice mixture, pressing the spices into the meat.
  • Build the Sauce Base: In the slow cooker, add 0.5 cup chicken broth, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 4 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tsp thyme. Stir gently.
  • Layer and Cook: Place seasoned chicken into the liquid. Top with 4 tbsp cubed butter. Cover and cook on High for 3-4 hours or Low for 6-7 hours.
  • Finish: Ensure internal temp reaches 165°F. Remove chicken and shred using a mixer or slice to serve.
